I’m Valerie, and this is Reel Adventure Awaits, a blog for anyone who loves hiking, fishing, and traveling. I have always had a real passion for the outdoors my entire life.
I created Reel Adventure Awaits to share tips and tricks based on my personal experiences: hiking, fishing, and traveling. Reel Adventure Awaits mission is to inspire people like you to get outdoors and maybe even try something new!

From The Beginning
I grew up in a small countryside town in Wisconsin.
My memories growing up were filled with fishing and exploring the outdoors when my family & friends went camping and hiking.
Whether I was searching for a new fishing spot or cool outlook on a trail, you could always find me going on adventures of my own. That itch to be outdoors never left me.
Today
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a Marketing degree and minor in Spanish. I was lucky enough to have a chance to study abroad in Peru and loved every second of it. After college, I decided to do the “responsible thing” and quickly found a job via the corporate route. I worked for the same company for 13 years and developed many skills over the years leading teams in different aspects of the business including running a big box retail store. I soon became consumed with work and realized that I wanted to take a step back and return to my roots and core values. Family, friends, and adventure come first. I finally left the corporate world and started a journey and the next chapter in my life. This led me to create Reel Adventure Awaits.
I recently welcomed a new member into my family. A Greater Swiss Mountain dog puppy named Minnow! Once she is old enough to participate in adventures, I will bring her with me to explore. I have an amazing husband Justin, whom I have been married to for nearly 4 years now. We both share the love for the outdoors and go on adventures every chance that we get. We love the great outdoors so much that we even got married on top of a mountain!
